Program Goals
What Ready, Set, Learn! Preschool is about
Circle Time is a group gathering during which we share our ideas, plans and observations. Circle activities are designed to stimulate youngsters' thinking, enrich their social skills and expand their attention span.
Gross motoractivities give children the opportunity to use their muscles as well as their imaginations as they engage in fun, healthy exercises such as running, jumping and climbing.
Fine motor activities help improve small muscle development and eye hand coordination. Some common items used to help develop this skill include puzzles, beads and lace, pegboards, crayons and scissors.
Dramatic play activities help children express themselves, practice life skills, improve social skills, increase self esteem, build vocabulary and solve problems. Dramatic play is also a whole lot of fun!
Music activities promote youngsters' listening skills, creative expression and social interaction. In music children can explore sound, volume, tempo and rhythm.
Science activities offer children many hands on opportunities for observation, exploration, investigation, making predictions and experimentation.
Sensory activities allow preschoolers to experiment with different textures such as sand, water, snow, rice, beans, flubber, foam chips, shaving cream and many more gooey things.
Block play activities give children experience with many different concepts, such as shape and size discrimination, spatial relationships, number skills, balance, organization, cause and effect and classification. Cooperative play skills, problem solving and creativity are also promoted in block play.
Story time is designed to help youngsters' develop an appreciation and enjoyment of literature. Reading activities enhance children's vocabulary and comprehension skills and also expand their knowledge base.

What we do at Ready, Set, Learn! Preschool
Circle time is when we gather as a group to pick the "Helping Hand", go over the calendar, the shape, color, number and letters of the month. This time is also used to dicuss the day's activites.
Gross motor activities include gym time and outdoor time (playing on the play structure and in the park).
Fine motor activities will take place during "Table Time" where the children will work with puzzles, sewing, beading and many more items. During "Creative time" they will be working with scissors, gluing, coloring and cutting. Throughout the day they will be doing other activities that will sharpen their fine motor skills.
Dramatic play activities will include a center that is set up to coincide with our monthly themes. Some of the ways the center will be set up are Family Home, Summer Fun and many more exciting ways.
Music activities will include sing songs, playing instruments, dancing to music and best of all performing at the W.H.Ford School Christmas Concert!
Science activities will involve planting seeds and watching them grow, making flubber, and doing all sorts of experiments.
Sensory activities will take place at the sensory table and will include such things as rice, shaving cream, water. beans, snow, grains and many more fun items.
Block play will include a wide variety of building blocks, such as large/small lego, cubics, lincon logs, alphabet blocks and wooden blocks. It also includes Fischer Price buildings, people, cars, castles and many more objects to broden a preschoolers imagination!
Story time activites will include library time ( in the school library), reading buddies, self read stories ( in the classroom and school library), puppet theater and stories that the teacher will be reading to the class that are related to the monthly themes.
